Man Utd Secure Back-To-Back Wins With Late Stunner

Diogo Dalot's spectacular strike helped Manchester United secure a 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Saturday night.

Result: Sheffield United 1-2 Manchester United

Date: 21 October 2023

Venue: Bramall Lane

Scott McTominay was recalled to the line-up after his match-winning brace against Brentford before the international break, while Antony is also back in the starting line-up in place of Mason Mount.

The home side looked livelier in the early stages of the encounter as they looked to return to winning ways, while the Red Devils struggled to get their attacking game going in the early stages.

However, the Red Devils got the breakthrough with their first real chance on 28 minutes against the run of play when McTominay volleyed home from close range after being set up by Bruno Fernandes.

McTominay then went from hero to villain in three minutes after he penalised for a handball in the box, which allowed Oli McBurnie to step up and convert for his first goal of the season.

The Red Devils nearly got themselves back in front before the break as Fernandes saw his curling free-kick crash against the crossbar, with goalkeeper Wes Foderingham well beaten.

United should have gone ahead just before the hour mark when Fernandes played in Rashford, who sent his first-time finish inches wide of the upright with only Foderingham to beat.

Five minutes later, Erik ten Hag responded with a triple change as Anthony Martial, Christian Eriksen and Alejandro Garnacho replaced Rasmus Hojlund, McTominay and Antony.

The visitors got their reward with 14 minutes left on the clock as Diogo Dalot collected a pass from Victor Lindelof before picking out the top corner from 25 yards out.

The win takes the Red Devils up to eighth spot on the Premier League table ahead of next weekend's derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford.
