Chelsea were denied back-to-back victories in the Premier League after conceding late to draw 2-2 with Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon.

Venue: Bramall Lane

Chelsea made three changes after their victory against Manchester United in a seven-goal thriller, as Noni Madueke was preferred over Mykhailo Mudryk, alongside recalls also for Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah.

The Blues had an ideal start after Silva fired them ahead on 11 minutes with a volley in the box from a corner by Conor Gallagher.

Sheffield were spirited to get back into the game and midway into the first stanza, Brereton Diaz came close to getting the equaliser after he received a square pass to aim his shot towards an open goal but Moisés Caicedo made a crucial clearance, with goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic out of his area.

The Blades eventually levelled matters just after the half-hour mark after Jayden Bogle fired home a strike at the near post from a through ball by Gustavo Hamer.

Mauricio Pochettino's charges could not retain their dominance on the ball, as Sheffied had an extra step on the pitch and put extra effort to see out the game level at the break.

Chris Wilder's men were quick off the blocks from the interval, as they had a prolonged spell of attack and were threatening but just unfortunate in front of goal.

Once Chelsea got their rhythm back, they were clinical as Madueke restored their lead on 66 minutes with a cracking shot after he cut inside the box after an off-load by Cole Palmer.

Pochettino's troops looked to pick off the Blades on counter-attacks after that, as the home side had to come out of their defensive block in numbers.

And with eight minutes remaining, Chelsea brought on the fresh legs of Mudryk in attack, who came on in place of Madueke.

Sheffield found a way to enter the Blues' box in the dying minutes and after coming close, Oliver McBurnie finally levelled matters with a close-range shot after a cushioned header on his path.

The Blues' unbeaten run extended to seven matches.
