Result: Liverpool 3-0 Bournemouth

Date: 21 September 2024

Venue: Anfield

Reds manager Arne Slot made two changes from the shock loss to Nottingham Forest, as Darwin Nunez made his first start of the season in place of Diogo Jota while Caoimhin Kelleher started ahead of Alisson between the sticks.

Anfield was stunned into silence after just four minutes when Antoine Semenyo turned home from close range. However, the celebrations were cut short as the Video Assistant Referee spotted an offside.

The Reds dominated thereafter, with Mohamed Salah passing up a good chance after 15 minutes when he was denied by Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa after a superb through-ball from Alexis Mac Allister.

The home side eventually broke the deadlock after 27 minutes when Ibrahima Konate picked out Luis Diaz, who beat the offside trap and rounded Kepa to slot into an empty net for his fourth goal of the campaign.

The Reds' lead was doubled two minutes as Diaz completed his brace by turning home Trent Alexander Arnold's cross at the far post, leaving the visiting side shell-shocked.

There was enough time for the Reds to grab a third goal eight minutes before the break as Nunez opened his account for the campaign with a lovely curling effort from the edge of the area.

The Reds were a lot more sloppier in the second period as the Cherries looked to fashion some half chances as they looked to get back into the encounter.

In an attempt to up the temp once again, as, Dominik Szoboszlai who had a quiet game, mad way for Curtis Jones just moments before Nunez passed up a good chance before the hour mark.

Bournemouth went close to pulling one back with ten minutes to play when Luis Sinisterra, managed to weave his way into the box before seeing his effort saved, while the Cherries forward also struck the woodwork with a heard moments later.
