Venue: Craven Cottage

United made four changes to the side that lost against Aston Villa in a league game, as Bruno Fernandes returned from suspension while Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga and Tyrell Malacia were recalled.

The sides were enterprising in the opening exchanges, with chances from both ends but the Red Devils went ahead on 14 minutes after Christian Eriksen converted Bruno Fernandes' square pass at the back post.

Fulham were spirited to make a swift comeback, but United goalkeeper David de Gea made two vital saves shortly before the half-hour mark to deny Harry Wilson in quick succession.

Erik ten Hag's charges carried their own threat on counter-attacks and Martial had a golden chance on the half-hour mark to double their lead but goalkeeper Bernd Leno came out on top from a one-on-one situation.

The visitors looked more threatening from their break attacks as Eriksen came close to doubling their lead on the stroke of halftime with a first-time shot around the penalty area that flashed just wide after a cut-back by Fernandes.

The second stanza was full of action from both ends, as Leno kept Marco Silva's charges in the game early in the second stanza with a double save to keep out efforts from Elanga and Rashford.

De Gea was also busy for United at the other end, as he thwarted a shot from Carolos Vinicius and kept out a header by Timm Ream from a resultant corner.

However, the Cottagers eventually levelled matters around the hour-mark thanks to a close-range shot by former Red Devils attacke Daniel James after a cross by Tom Cairney from a counter-attack.

The game continued to swing from end to end and Ten Hag needed fresh legs in attack on 73 minutes as Alejandro Garnacho replaced Martial.

The changed paid off for Ten Hag, as Garnacho snatched the winner stoppage time with a strike in the box after being played in by Eriksen.

The Red Devils reduced the gap behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur to just three points in fifth spot, with a game in hand.
