Result: Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal

Date: 21 October 2023

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Bukayo Saka returned from injury to start in the attack alongside Gabriel Martinelli, who got the winner against Manchester City while the Blues recalled Mikhail Mudryk who was on target for Ukraine in the international break.

The Blues got off to a lively start and were awarded a penalty with the help of the Video Assiant Referee (VAR) for a handball on William Saliba. Cole Palmer stepped up and calmly slotted home from 12 yards.

While Arsenal struggled to carve out chances, Palmer went close to adding a second goal on 29 minutes when with a low strike from the edge of the box that sailed inches wide of the upright.

The first half belonged to the home side who remained a threat due to Raheem Sterling causing a number of problems against Oleksandr Zinchenko down the right flank.

Chelsea were gifted a second goal shortly after the halftime break, as Mudryk bagged his second goal of the campaign with a cross that sailed over David Raya and into the far corner.

Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino opted to with the Ukrainian winger just after the hour mark, as Senegal international Nicolas Jackson made his way on to the park.

The Gunners gave themselves some hope after Declan Rice pounced on a poor pass by goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and scored from around 25 yards out.

The visitors completed the comeback with five minutes left on the clock when substitute Leandro Trossard got on the end of Saka's cross to poke beyond Sanchez for his second goal of the campaign.
