The Gunners have recalled Bukayo Saka, Jorginho, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus after being rested during the 2-0 win over Luton Town on Wednesday evening.

The game was quite open in the early stages, as Bright goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen was called upon to keep out a fine strike from Gabriel Jesus after 13 minutes.

With the game opening up a bit more, the visitors were awarded a penalty in the 31st minute when Gabriel Jesus is brought down by Tariq Lampety, which allowed Saka to step up and convert for the opening goal.

Brighton looked to bring themselves level before the halftime break as Encisco cut in from the left flank and unleashed an effort from distance that forced goalkeeper David Raya into fine save at full stretch.

It was more of the same in the second half and it was Arsenal who got the next goal on the hour mark when Jorginho got the byline and pulled the back for Kai Havertz, who slotted home from close range.

With one eye on the midweek Champions League assignment, Arteta withdrew Saka and Jesus for Gabriel Martinelli and former Brighton star Leandro Trossard.

Trossard managed to round off the scoring against his former side in the 86th minute after racing clear on goal and lobbing the on-rushing Verbruggen.

The win takes the Gunners top of the standings, but Liverpool can reclaim top spot if they beat Manchester United on Sunday.
