Osimhen EPL-Bound In January?

A Premier League giant is reportedly looking to bring Victor Osimhen to the club as soon as January.

The Nigerian has built up a reputation for being one of Europe's most clinical marksmen whilst being at Napoli.

The 24-year-old scored 31 goals last season as he helped the Neapolitans end a three-decade wait to get their hands on the Serie A title, and consequently, the club wants to keep him at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona beyond his current deal.

However, there seems to be some stumbling blocks concerning a prospective extension. Osimhen's representatives and Napoli chiefs cannot seem to agree on a release clause, and more recently, the club's social media post seemingly mocking the attacker delayed contract negotiations further.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are looking to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the Lagos native and have made him a top target for the upcoming transfer window.

The Blues are hoping the striker will sustain his refusal to commit to the Scudetto holders so they can make an offensive in 2024.

The English outfit is not the only club interested in Osimhen, with Arsenal and Real Madrid also believed to be keeping close tabs on the forward's situation.

The same report suggests that the 2023 Ballon d'Or nominee could cost as much as £120 million (R2.7 billion). It is for this reason that the abovementioned London sides are also looking into signing Ivan Toney from Brentford instead, with his price tag believed to be set at £80 million (R1.8 billion).
