Next season promises to be an exciting one as teams on the European continent look around the world for players who can potentially improve their fortunes. Bayern Munich, for example, have already welcomed the first signing of the Vincent Kompany era.

The German giants recently announced the acquisition of Japanese centre-back Hiroki Ito from fellow Bundesliga side Stuttgart after the 25-year-old's impressive 2023/24 campaign, in which he helped his former side qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Ito, a 19-time Japan international, played 26 of Stuttgart's 34 league matches as the club miraculously finished above the Bavarians, whom he has joined for €23 million (R448.1 million), on the table.

Staying in Germany, RB Leipzig have landed 18-year-old midfield sensation Assan Ouedraogo from second division club Schalke in a deal worth €10 million (R194.8 million). Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, champions Bayer Leverkusen have secured Aleix Garcia's signature from LALIGA outfit Girona. The former Manchester City midfielder enjoyed a spectacular 2023/24 season in Spain and becomes Xabi Alonso's first addition as their Champions League journey begins.

Here are eight more players who have completed transfers ahead of next season:

Girona themselves, meanwhile, have signed Czech defender Ladislav Krejci from Sparta Prague. In France, Paris Saint-Germain recently confirmed the arrival of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who joins the Ligue 1 champions on a five-year contract from FK Krasnodar in a move worth €20 million (R389.6 million).

Over in the Premier League, talented Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme has taken his career to London club West Ham United, becoming one of the latest talents out of South America to take the giant leap of moving abroad. The 18-year-old is considered a promising player for the future, having impressed at senior level alongside new Real Madrid signing Endrick playing for Palmeiras. The teenager represents a significant recruitment strategy change for the Hammers, who appointed former Spain manager Julen Lopetegui as David Moyes' successor in May.

Also in England, Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed a young Brazilian right-back by the name of Pedro Lima, while free agent Lloyd Kelly has agreed to join Newcastle United after his contract at Bournemouth expired. The 25-year-old centre-back becomes the Magpies' second signing of the transfer window, although it was decided a while ago that left-back Lewis Hall would stay at the club permanently following his loan spell from Chelsea.
