Since joining the Citizens from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2023, Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes has struggled to find any sort of form and consistency.
The 26-year-old has featured mainly as a back-up player in Pep Guardiola's squad, which has subsequently resulted in his playing time having decreased at international level too.
This season so far, Nunes has played only 20 minutes of Premier League football over the course of three appearances, having been an unused substitute on three occasions.
Off the field, meanwhile, the midfielder is believed to have run into some trouble amid reports he was arrested in Madrid early in September following an incident at a nightclub.
According to Spanish outlet El Mundo, Nunes was handcuffed by police after taking the cell phone of a man who was taking a picture of him without permission in the venue's bathroom.
The City player reportedly grabbed the phone in a fit of rage and refused to return it, before being arrested and taken to a local police station.
Nunes was later released following the intervention of a lawyer, although the report claims Nunes is still expected to face charges.
