Manchester United have confirmed that new signing Memphis Depay will wear the iconic No. 7 jersey this season.
Man Utd's Strongest Opening Day XI?
The 21-year-old Netherlands star has been handed the number following the sale of Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-German.
Depay was the Red Devils' first signing this transfer window and now has the opportunity to fill the shirt that has been worn by some of the club's greatest players.
The No. 7 shirt has been worn by some famous names at Old Trafford, including Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, George Best and Eric Cantona.
The N0. 9 shirt is currently vacant, although that could change if the Red Devils sign an attacking player in the coming weeks.
It's believed Depay personally requested the iconic jersey in the week and Louis van Gaal is confident the player will do it justice.
How Memphis Could Match Beckham At Man Utd
Depay will make his first competitive appearance for Manchester United this weekend when they open their Premier League account against Tottenham Hotspur.
