While the transfer window has officially closed in many of Europe's top leagues, that is not yet the case for teams in Saudi Arabia, and their top-flight champions are believed to still be keen to lure the Egypt talisman to Jeddah before their window shuts at 23:00 (SA time) on Thursday night.

The Tigers are reported to have placed a record £215 million (R5.1 billion) bid for Salah, but according to Foot Mercato, the Reds are set to stand resolute in their stance of not selling the 31-year-old.

The Saudi champions are said to want to follow up their acquisitions of Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Fabinho with that of Salah as the crown jewel in attempt to assemble a side that could win the looming FIFA Club World Cup.

The same report claims that while the offer may have been extremely tempting, the Anfield chiefs are not willing to part with the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner at this moment in time.

With the Saudi transfer window poised to end on Thursday night, Ittihad will be looking to find another attacking star to bolster their squad before it shuts.

It is also believed they will continue pursuing Salah during the next off-season, as was rumoured to be their original plan.
