NEW: £150m-Rated Isak ‘Ask’ To Leave, Liverpool On Alert

Liverpool FC are reportedly keen on break the Premier League transfer record once again.

£150 million-rated (R3.5 billion) striker Alexander Isak has reportedly asked to leave his current club, with Liverpool believed to be keen on pouncing.

The Swedish forward could be poised for a big-money move in this transfer window. According to the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old has asked Newcastle United to explore the possibility of a departure ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

This development comes after the Solna-born striker was left out of the Magpies’ pre-season travelling squad to Singapore. While it was initially claimed he was nursing a thigh injury, it now appears he may have been biding his time to try and orchestrate a move away from St. James’ Park.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that one of the clubs interested in the prolific striker could be the reigning Premier League champions.

Earlier in the window, reports suggested that the Merseysiders were weighing up a move for either Isak or Hugo Ekitike. While they ultimately signed the Frenchman from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95 million (R1.9 billion), Romano now states that they remain open to pursuing a deal for the Scandinavian marksman.

The 52-cap international still has three years remaining on his existing contract with Newcastle, meaning the club holds the upper hand in negotiations.

Should Arne Slot’s side land Isak, it would be a major statement of intent, especially after already breaking the Premier League transfer record with their €125 million (R2.5 billion) signing of Florian Wirtz earlier in the window.
