Eden Hazard's father has opened up about his son's failed switch to Real Madrid, believing things may have been different had there not been a certain change at the Santiago Bernabeu.
'This African Star Could Play For Real or Barca'
The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Los Blancos in the latest window, especially after his impressive performances for Belgium at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Thierry Hazard, Eden's father, has now discussed the speculation surrounding his son, saying that he believes Zinedine Zidane's departure was pivotal in the attacker's failed move to LaLiga.
"It could have been a different story if Zidane had continued as Real Madrid coach, but he had his reasons to leave," he told Belgian newspaper Hiet Niewuwsblad.
Hazard's father was reluctant to go into details as to why the deal did not materialise, but refused to rule out a move in the future.
"I can't say what happened," he added.
"Maybe Real Madrid have the policy to give chances to youngsters.
"Eden has another year on his contract next summer, and it's possible that he'll still end up at Real."
