English Premier League

Result: West Ham United 1-1 Stoke City

Date: 16 April 2018

Venue: London Stadium

Andy Carroll canceled out Peter Crouch's strike as West Ham United and Stoke City drew 1-1 in the Premier League on Monday evening.

David Moyes' men came into the clash looking to build on their 1-1 draw with Chelsea last time out, while the Potters were hoping to bounce back from a loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers enjoyed a lot of the possession in the early stages of the clash, with Marko Arnautovic causing a number of problems.

The game's first chance arrived after 30 minutes when Joao Mario played in Arnautovic, who dragged his close-range effort wide of the mark.

The rest of the first half failed to provide any goal-mouth action as a number of needles fouls interrupted the flow game.

Ten minutes into the second half, Stoke carved out their first chance of the game when Moritz Bauer raced to the byline before picking out Mame Biram Diouf, who fired over the crossbar from close range.

West Ham had the ball in the back of the net after 65 minutes but Edimilson Fernandes' low strike was ruled out due to Arnautovic being flagged offside, which obstructed Jack Butland's view.

However, Stoke took the lead with 12 minutes remaining as Joe Hart parried Xherdan Shaqiri's shot into the path of Peter Crouch, who fired home from close range.

West Ham responded by introducing Andy Carroll for the final stages of the half as they went in search of an equaliser.

The change paid off for the Hammers as Carroll secured the equaliser in the 90th minute with a fine first-time finish into the bottom corner to deny the Potters three priceless points in their fight against relegation.
