English Premier League Report: Sheffield United v Manchester City 31 October 2020

Result: Sheffield United 0-1 Manchester City

Date: 31 October 2020

Venue: Bramall Lane

Manchester City got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with Kyle Walker's strike securing victory over Sheffield United.

Riyad Mahrez, Aymeric Laporte, and Ferran Torres were included in the line-up, while former Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster was handed his first start for Sheffield.

The Citizens signalled their intent the onset as Torres and Aymetic Laporte went close to breaking the deadlock in the opening 15 minutes.

City's pressure eventually paid off in the 28th minute Kyle Walker marked his 100th appearance for the club with a superb finish into bottom corner.

Sheffield, meanwhile, were unable to create any chances of their own in the first half as City goalkeeper Ederson enjoyed a quiet opening 45 minutes.

After a poor first-half showing, Sheffield should have restored parity in the 68th minute but John Lundstram fired over the crossbar from close range.

With time running out, Blades manager Chris Wilder threw on the lanky David McGoldrick while Pep Guardiola introduced Phil Foden for Torres on 80 minutes.

Nevertheless, City saw out the remaining stages with relative ease to return to winning ways, which sees the side jump up to seventh spot.
