English Premier League
Result: Hull City 0-2 Chelsea
Date: 01 October 2016
Venue: KCOM Stadium
Second-half goals from Willian and Diego Costa helped Chelsea record a 2-0 win over Hull City at the KCOM Stadium.
Antonio Conte made two alterations to his starting line-up from the team's 3-0 loss to Arsenal the last time out.
Branislav Ivanovic and Cesc Fabregas were dropped in favour of Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses for a starting berth.
The two sides were going at each other frequently but there were no clear cut chances created in the first half.
Save for the 17th minute good spell of play coming from the right flank with William combining well with Diego Costa but the final touch always let them down.
However Hull City looked the likeliest side to open the scoring with their determination and quick forward play.
It wasn't to be though and the first half ended goalless.
Willian made the breakthrough in the 61st minute. The Brazilian cleverly collected Costa's pass and cut inside at the top of the box and curled the ball into the top corner, 1-0.
Diego Costa quickly made it 2-0 in the 67th minute.
Nemanja Matic was allowed too much space in the middle to slalom through. He hit a wonder shot that was blocked but for Costa to pounce and curl the rebound into the back of the net, from almost the exact position where Willian scored.
Chelsea continued to press for more goals but two proved to be enough on the day as they started to take the sting out of the game by keeping possession and in the end collected three points away from home.
