Yannick Bolasie line-up against his former employers, while Tom Cleverley was also drafted into the starting line-up for Everton.
The opening exchanges were by no means entertaining, despite Everton seeing most of the ball, as Palace offered nothing going forward.
The Toffees eventually broke the deadlock after 35 minutes when Romelu Lukaku curled home a sublime free-kick which gave Steve Mandanda no chance.
Everton were the better side for the entire opening half and went into the break with a deserved one-goal lead, while Palace failed to register a single effort on target.
However, the Eagles leveled matters five minutes into the second half when Joel Ward picked out Benteke, who sent a towering header into the far corner.
The game sparked into life, and the home side nearly restored their lead after 65 minutes but Gareth Barry's glancing header was cleared off the line by Jason Puncheon.
With time running out, both teams opted for changes as Everton introduced Kevin Mirallas, while Palace brought on Yohan Cabaye.
Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, but they struggled to carve out clear-cut chances and were forced to settle for a point.
