The former England captain acknowledged that some of his hairstyles through his career were pretty dreadful and, singled out his cornrows as his worst of the lot.

Beckham, who spoke on the Graham Norton, revelled that he never really thought any of his hairstyles through and regrets the cornrows he had when meeting Madiba.

"Some of them have been really bad, I hadn't thought them through," he added.

"The topknot wasn't too bad but the cornbraids were a bad decision.

"It was bad timing as well as, I was going to South Africa at the time with England and ended up meeting Nelson Mandela - so that's why I regret that one."
