Former Kaizer Chiefs star Collins Mbesuma has given his Leicester City compatriot some pointers going into the 2022/23 season.
The ex-Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns forward has given his opinion on what the Foxes' Zambian striker Patson Daka needs to work on should he wish to continue playing among the elite of English football.
Mbesuma, who himself had a brief stint in the Premier League with Portsmouth between 2005 and 2007, lauded his countryman's performances in his first campaign with Leicester, but emphasised the need for consistency.
"I think he has done well," Mbesuma told Lusaka Times.
"I think what he just needs is just consistency.
"For sure, he is playing under good coaches and in a good environment. I think he just has to keep on improving."
Following a 2020/21 season that was littered with goals, 34 to be exact, Daka made the move from Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga to join Brendan Rodgers' men for a reported fee of €30 million (R514 million).
The Chipolopolo striker has confessed that he has set lofty expectations for himself as his first season in England did not go as he planned.
"It has been an okay season, not really the best like I expected, but it's a season I can say I can build on," Daka told Lusaka Times.
"It's not easy to go into a foreign land and to adapt there and then. It takes a bit of time. I put pressure on myself.
"I have to continue working extra-hard because I know what is expected of me and what I expect of myself.
"At the end of the day, I know I have everything that it takes for me to be what I want to be. It's all in me.
"I just have to be true to myself and believe in myself."
The Zambian finished his inaugural season with the 2015/16 Premier League champions as their third-highest goalscorer, having found the back of the net 11 times.
