Chelsea 'Make Transfer Decision' On Felix

Chelsea 'Make Transfer Decision' On Felix

Joao Felix

A month into his loan spell in London, Chelsea have reportedly reached a decision regarding new signing Joao Felix's future.

On the weekend, the Portuguese talent made his return to action for the Blues after serving a three-match suspension.

The 23-year-old marked his reappearance for the two-time European champions with a goal against West Ham United on Saturday, and now, according to Relevo, should he continue in the same vein of form, co-owner Todd Boehly would be interested in bringing him to the club on a permanent basis.

In the 148 minutes the Portugal native has played for Chelsea so far, it seems Felix has already shown the club enough to want to bring him on board beyond this season.

The Viseu native is said to be enjoying his time in the English capital and the change of scenery from Madrid, where he has been plying his trade with Atletico Madrid for the past three-and-a-half years.

Working with Graham Potter and being surrounded by players who are just as young as he is has seemingly given Felix a new lease on his career, and the 2020/21 LaLiga winner would reportedly like to stay with the six-time English champions beyond this campaign.

With the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhaylo Mudryk having also made their way to the club this season, Boehly is believed to be attempting to construct a squad capable of competing now but also having the potential to be one of the best in Europe for the foreseeable future.

Felix is also one of super-agent Jorge Mendes' clients, and having secured a deal for Fernandez this past transfer window, Boehly has a good relationship with the representative and will be hoping he can talk Los Rojiblancos down from their asking price for the attacker.

While Atletico were originally holding out for a fee in the range of €130 million (R2.4 billion) to 140 million (R2.6 billion) for the forward, it is claimed a bid of around €100 million (R1.9 billion) could now be deemed enough considering all the loan fee the Premier League giants have paid for Felix.
