10 Of The Most Underwhelming Signings So Far This Season

10 Of The Most Underwhelming Signings So Far This Season

With two months of the 2018/19 campaign already having passed, here are 10 high-profile signings who have underwhelmed at their new clubs so far, including two FC Barcelona players.

Click through the gallery above to see 10 signings who have not impressed just yet at their new clubs.

The latest transfer window was a busy and entertaining one, with plenty of top players moving around in Europe's top five leagues.

While many of them have already proved their worth at their new clubs, some are yet to genuinely impress, including Arturo Vidal and Clement Lenglet at Barca.

Vidal has appeared nine times across all competitions, but has not yet looked like he fits Ernesto Valverde's system, while Lenglet has appeared uncertain at times in defence.

Algeria international Riyad Mahrez is another top player who has underwhelmed since changing clubs.

The 27-year-old has scored just three times in 12 matches for Manchester City so far, and missed a vital penalty in the final minutes of his team's 0-0 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League earlier this month.

Fred is yet to establish himself in Manchester United's midfield, although he has shown a few bright moments that have excited supporters. Sometimes appearing to be a bit overeager, the Brazilian still has plenty to learn about playing in England's top division.

His countryman Felipe Anderson has not quite had the desired impact at West Ham United since his arrival from Lazio, scoring just once in his first nine matches in the Premier League.

Still adapting to life in Spain, France international Thomas Lemar might need to do more if he is to convince Atletico Madrid fans he was worth his £63 million (R1.1 billion) transfer fee.

Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, who was excellent for Russia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, has played just 305 minutes of football since making the move to France form CSKA Moscow, while ex-Monaco winger Keita Balde is yet to contribute to a goal at Inter Milan.

Lazio's Joaquin Correa and AC Milan's Tiemoue Bakayoko have also struggled to impress at their new clubs so far in this campaign.
