Following Real Madrid's 5-1 loss to FC Barcelona in El Clasico on Sunday, Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos responded to a question about former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
'Ronaldo Sale Reason For Real Crisis'
Many are under the impression Julen Lopetegui could soon be fired by Los Blancos, especially after the big defeat they suffered at the hands of their eternal LaLiga rivals Barca on Sunday evening.
Asked whether or not he believes Conte would immediately command respect if he were to replace the Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu, Ramos insisted that this is something everyone has to work for.
"Respect is earned, it is not imposed," he said, according to the Metro.
"Neither a name nor another.
"We have won everything with coaches that you already know. In the end, the management of the players is more important than the technical knowledge of a coach."
The captain also commented on rumours that Lopetegui is facing the sack.
"I have always said the same, they are not decisions that run at our hands," he added.
"We are to death with the coach who is always in charge, those decisions are taken by those above. We will see what happens in the next few hours."
'Mbappe Can Match Messi Ronaldo'
Real are currently ninth on the LaLiga table after 10 matches.
