Ahead of what promises to be a scintillating El Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on Wednesday night, here are eight important and interesting facts you should know about the historical fixture!

Not only are these two giant clubs a part of the biggest rivalry in Spanish football, but arguably in the world too. Fans from all around the globe tune in to watch this fixture, and another edition be played on Wednesday in the Copa del Rey.

The teams drew the first leg of the semi-final 1-1 at the Camp Nou, with goals coming from Real's Lucas Vazquez and Barca's Malcom.

Ahead of the reverse fixture, we have taken a look at some interesting facts about the famous derby, one being that Manolo Sanchis is the player with the most appearances in Clasicos.

The Spaniard played 43 times for Los Blancos in the fixture, but his record is in danger of being overtaken by Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos.

The player with the most consecutive goals in the fixture is Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored seven goals in six Clasicos in a row between the 2011/12 and 2012/13 campaigns.
