Philippe Coutinho scored a hat-trick in Brazil's 7-1 drubbing of Haiti in the Copa America on Wednesday night.

The Liverpool playmaker opened the scoring just 14 minutes into the clash, when he was allowed space on the edge of the area and struck a powerful effort past Johnny Placide to make the score 1-0.

Coutinho added a second in the 29th minute, with Brazil in total control of proceedings. Dani Alves fed the ball to Jonas, who found Coutinho unmarked just six yards out – it was a simple tap-in by his standards.

The Selecao scored a third through Renato Augusto just six minutes later, after Alves found his head in the box with a lovely curled cross.

Gabriel was introduced after half-time, and it did not take long for the 19-year-old to make an impact. He essentially put the game to bed when he scored Brazil's fourth with a neat finish inside the box in the 59th minute.

Lucas Lima scored Brazil's fifth goal eight minutes later. Alves got his second assist of the match when he floated the ball into the box for the attacking midfielder to head in.

James Marcelin scored for Haiti in the 70th minute, but the goal would mean very little as Renato Augusto added his second and Brazil's sixth after 86 minutes, before Coutinho completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.
