Lionel Messi Leads Argentina's Illustrious Copa America Squad

FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the biggest name surrounded by a host of stars in Argentina's illustrious 40-man preliminary squad for this year's Copa America.

It was confirmed on Tuessday that the Argentina captain – unlike his club teammate Neymar – would not compete in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Messi will instead participate in the Copa America Centenario – the 100th edition of the tournament – as the Albiceleste attempt to win their first major title in 23 years.

Angel Di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain, Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero are just a few other star players in Gerardo Martino's preliminary squad, which will be whittled down to 23 names on 20 May.
