The Barca superstar made his Argentina debut back in 2005, and on Saturday when his side faces Jamaica in the Copa America, he is likely to star in his 100th international game.
The skipper spoke on his pride at reaching the 100-game landmark, saying his focus is on winning the tournament.
"I'm very happy to reach this record," he said, according to the Daily Nation.
"Hopefully I can celebrate another victory and once and for all lift a cup."
Messi debuted for his country at 18-years-old, but his first match ended on a sour note as he was sent off for elbowing an opponent.
His performances for his country have often been criticised for not being as consistent as they are for Barcelona, however, he has still scored 46 goals from 99 games.
