Paul Pogba and Maroune Fellaini missed the clash through suspension, while Wayne Rooney, Mkhitaryan and Martial returned to the line up.
The Red Devils broke the deadlock inside the opening two minutes, as Mkhitaryan's flick played in Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who calmly slotted past Adrian.
