Neuer In Hot Water With Bayern After Ronaldo-Like Interview

Neuer In Hot Water With Bayern After Ronaldo-Like Interview

Reports claim that Germany and Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer may have landed himself in trouble following a recent interview in which he questioned decisions made by the club.

PSG Urged To Get Rid Of Messi

The 36-year-old shot-stopper is currently out of action for the Bavarian outfit after he broke his leg during an unauthorized skiing trip shortly after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Now, the 10-time Bundesliga winner is facing punishment from the record German champions after his recent comments in an interview with The Athletic.

In the interview, Neuer made his frustrations known about the sacking of long-time goalkeeping coach and close friend Toni Tapalovic, and now, according to Sky Sports Germany, talks are ongoing among the club's executive as to how punish the Bayern stalwart.

Tapalovic was reportedly fired after the goalkeeping coach had a falling out with Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann. The claims suggest that private discussions between members of the coaching team were being fed back to senior figures in the playing squa, with Tapalovic named as one of the culprits.

The sacking of the Croatian puts more strain on what is already a frosty relationship between Nagelsmann and Neuer as the latter has also been unimpressed by the lack of communication from the German tactician. The same report suggests that the 35-year-old coach prefers speaking to Joshua Kimmich instead of the veteran goalkeeper.

Nagelsmann seems to have the full backing of the Bayern board and while the club are expected to hand out a penalty for Neuer's behaviour, Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern Munich, has insisted that the two-time treble winners will not treat the former Schalke man like Manchester United did Cristiano Ronaldo and terminate his contract.

Cancelo Set To Make Switch To Bayern Permanent?

"No, not at all," Hainer told BR24 Sport, when asked if Bayern would cancel Neuer's contract like United did with Ronaldo.

"That's why we are FC Bayern Munich. At FC Bayern Munich we will always clarify such things internally. Such things make FC Bayern strong and special."
