DFB Pokal Report: Bayern Munich v Eintracht Frankfurt 10 June 2020

Result: Bayern Munich 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

Date: 10 June 2020

Venue: Allianz Arena

Robert Lewandowski continued his fine form by netting the winner to send Bayern Munich to the DFB Pokal final after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night.

The Bavarians manager Hans Flick only made one switch from the weekend's win over Bayer Leverkusen, as Ivan Perisic was re-called to the line-up in place of Serge Gnabry.

Perisic took the opportunity with both hands as he opened the scoring after 14 minutes with a close-range header after getting on the end of Thomas Muller's flick.

Bayern could have had a second goal in the 29th minute as Alphonso Davies used his pace to break down the flank before playing Kingsley Coman, who somehow failed to find the back of the net with only Trapp to beat.

Frankfurt, who have had already conceded 10 goals to Bayern this season, failed to offer anything going forward for most of the opening 45 minutes and were lucky not to have conceded another before the break.

Trapp was at his best to keep Frankfurt in the game at the start of the second half after pulling off a fine save to keep out Joshua Kimmich's strike.

The visitors then found the equaliser in the 69th minute as Danny da Costa made the perfect a minute after his arrival from the bench to send a curling effort past Manuel Neuer in the box.

Frankfurt's joy was short-lived though as Bayern restored thier lead five minutes later through Lewandowski, who was on hand to turn home Kimmich's squared pass.

Lewandowski did have a chance to bag a third goal in the final two minutes after being played in Muller, but the Polish striker was unable to convert from close range as the encounter finished 2-1 to the home side.

Bayern will now prepare for a final against Bayer Leverkusen, who defeated Saarbrucken 3-0 in the first semi-final on Tuesday night.
