Neuer: I Had To Fight Off Cancer With Three Operations

Bayern Munich and Germany legend Manuel Neuer has admitted that he has had to have three different surgeries in order to treat his skin cancer.

Xavi Shares Major Kessie Concern

Ahead of the Bavarians' UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona in December 2021, it was reported that Neuer was seen in training with a noticeable band aid on his face, and the German shot-stopper has now explained the reasoning behind it.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner has revealed that he had to have three different surgeries in order to treat his skin cancer. The 36-year-old made the revelation in a video posted on Instagram as he and tennis player Angelique Kerber launched their new sunscreen.

"We both have a history of skin diseases. In my case, skin cancer on my face, which required three surgeries," Neuer said in the video, as per the Daily Mail.

"When it comes to sunscreen, we have therefore paid attention to maximum protection.

"Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is essential for us to start with modern sun protection filters and a sun protection factor of 50+.

"So we know for sure that we have a sunscreen that protects us continuously and with which hardly anything can burn."

Ferdinand: Neville Has Ruined Ronaldo Relationship

Neuer started Bayern's first nine games of the current season but has now missed the past seven matches due to a shoulder injury,

Despite the setback, though, Bayern's No. 1 is expected to be selected for Germany's national team by head coach Hansi Flick ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
