Bayern Munich's chief Hasan Salihamidžic has confirmed the signing of €42million player, who was also chased by Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Highly rated RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano will be in the colours of the European champions after Salihamidžic's confirmation following months of talks with the player and agent.
The Bavarians had been quite vocal in their pursuit of the French defender in recent month and while the Premier League giants were all reportedly keen, Bayern will get their man as they will pay his €42.5 million release clause.
"We had very good, intensive and professional discussions with Dayot and his advisor Volker Struth for many months. We knew that we had very strong competition.
"Upamecano is a young player, 22, whose qualities have already developed extraordinarily. I was always convinced that we had presented a good concept.
"We presented him with our vision of his career at Bayern. During the past week in Doha I had further talks with everyone involved. At the end of a long process, the players, family and management were convinced that FC Bayern was the right club.
"Dayot Upamecano will play for Bayern for the next five years."
The 22-year-old has already notched up over 100 appearances for Leipzig since joining the club for Red Bull Salzburg in 2017.
