Messi won the main award and has now been named FIFA World Footballer of the Year for a sixth time, with the accolade being known as FIFA The Best Men's Player these days.
The Argentine also had to vote himself as national team captain of Argentina and opted to name Sadio Mane as his best player in 2019. His second vote went to his longstanding rival Ronaldo, while he chose Frenkie de Jong in third.

Second-placed Virgil van Dijk, meanwhile, named Messi as number one, Salah in second and Mane third.
While the other two finalists did name at least one of their direct rivals among the top three, Ronaldo opted for Matthijs de Ligt in first place followed by De Jong and Kylian Mbappe.
As always, FIFA's The Best award is decided by four voting panels, namely national team coaches, national team captains, journalists and fans, with each of them weighing 25%.
Each and every voter selects their personal top three, with the first-placed player receiving five points, second-placed three and third one. In the end all points will be added up to select the overall winner.
