With the winner of the 2019 Ballon d'Or set to be announced next week, Paris Saint-Germain and France superstar Kylian Mbappe has made quite a strange but big admission about the individual award.
The 20-year-old forward is among the 30 candidates up for the Ballon d'Or prize that will be handed out this coming Monday, with the likes of Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk among the favourites to win the award.
In a recent interview, Mbappe revealed that he does not feel he is worthy of winning the accolade this year, conceding there are other players who simply deserve it more.
"There are players who have done more.
"With PSG, we did not win all the national titles; in the Champions League, we disappointed.
"Sure, at the individual level, I did win a lot of trophies, but football is not played alone and must accept it.
"I still have time to win it, I'm in no hurry, it's not something that haunts me."
Mbappe has scored 34 goals for club and country so far in 2019, and has won two trophies in the same period.
