Eden Hazard Changes Ballon d'Or Prediction, Hope For Cristiano Ronaldo?

Ballon d'Or

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has changed his opinion on who he thinks will win this year's Ballon d'Or, giving hope to Cristiano Ronaldo, who could win the Golden Ball a record-breaking sixth time.

The Belgium winger previously said that Luka Modric is his favourite to claim this year's award after being named UEFA's Player of the Season and winning FIFA's The Best Men's Player of the Year award.

However, with Modric failing to shine for Real Madrid so far this season, Hazard has now changed his prediction, suggesting the prestigious accolade could go to Kylian Mbappe or Ronaldo.

"I said Modric initially," Hazard said, as quoted by the Daily Star.

"Now, with Real Madrid in difficulty at the start of the season and Kylian Mbappe has continued to walk on water since the World Cup, so it could be Mbappe.

"Cristiano Ronaldo will also be in and around.

"It is always difficult to make a prediction."

This year's Ballon d'Or winner will be announced on 3 December, and many believe Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's 10-year reign of the award will come to an end that night.

Both have won the Golden Ball five times, with Ronaldo claiming four of the past five five editions of the famous individual prize.
