With Real Madrid and Croatia superstar Luka Modric winning the 2018 Ballon d'Or prize in Paris on Monday night, Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has reacted to missing out on the prize.
Final 2018 Ballon d'Or Ranking Revealed, Messi Only Fifth
The 33-year-old midfielder ended a decade of dominance by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when he was announced the winner of the accolade on Monday.
Many believe Modric deserved to be crowned the victor, but Griezmann, who won two major prizes with club and country this year, is not sure what else he needs to do to win the prize.
"When I found out, you didn't have to be at home with me the first two days," the Rojiblancos attacker joked, according to FourFourTwo.
"No, it's a great pride to be on the podium, to be a world champion.
"I'm counting on my teammates in the club and the national team to be in Luka's place in the future.
"I won a Europa League, a World Cup, what else do I have to do? I do not know."
