Earlier this week, it was revealed that Super Eagles legend Daniel Amokachi quit his job as assistant coach as Nigeria prepare for World Cup qualifiers against Bafana Bafana and Benin.
In May, the former Nigeria international was appointed to the role to form part of Finidi George's technical team, with recent rumours suggesting he has since gone AWOL.
Sports Brief has reported that Amokachi, who was in the running to succeed Jose Peseiro as head coach, rejected the Nigeria Football Federation's terms after the organisation stated that George's staff would not receive salaries.
Instead, it was decided that assistant coaches would only be given match allowances and be paid bonuses, a move former Nigeria international Emmanuel Babayaro has labelled "demeaning".
The former Chelsea left-back has since called for the Nigerian public to take back their judgement of Amokachi and to ask them to focus on their match against Bafana on Friday.
"Now that you have your facts and are saved from unnecessary and narrow one-sided assumptions, go ahead with your comments," he wrote.
"My only plea is to allow us concentrate on our game against South Africa tomorrow, unnecessary distractions are detrimental."
