The Spanish coach left his former side Orlando Pirates two weeks back and shortly thereafter it was revealed that he had taken the vacant Al Ahly job following Marcel Koller's exit.
Previous reports revealed that the club delayed his announcement owing to the team's good form under interim coach Emad El-Nahhas.
Ahly's caretaker coach has been unbeaten in the league and club officials did not want Riveiro's official announcement to distract from their goal of winning a 45th Egyptian league title.
According to Egyptian publication Akhbar El-Yom, Riveiro is reportedly expected to be announced on Wednesday 28 May, the same day as Al Ahly's last league match against Pharco.
The club has allegedly organised a press conference where the ex-Orlando Pirates boss will be officially announced and unveiled.
Al-Dostor reported that Riveiro arrived in Cairo on Tuesday after taking some time off with his family. Al Ahly's Samir Adly is currently leading a delegation at the airport.
Riveiro is expected to be in the stands to watch the final league match against Pharco and will start his official duties in preparation for the FIFA Club World Cup.
