Former Wydad AC coach Rulani Mokwena has reportedly been linked with a shock return to management with a top Algerian side.

Mokwena has been without a coaching role since parting ways with the Red Castle in May this year. Despite only joining the Moroccan side ahead of the 2024/25 season, the South African was unable to match the high expectations that came with the Wydad role.
Previous reports have linked Mokwena with a move to Egyptian giants Zamalek and Pyramids. However, the 38-year-old has not made a final decision regarding his next management step.
According to El Djazaïr El Djadida, Mokwena has not been linked with a move to MC Alger following the departure of the club's head coach, Khaled Ben Yahia, after his six-month contract came to an end.
The club are now reportedly looking to bring in a big name on the continent in their bid to achieve international success to complement their domestic dominance, having won back-to-back Algerian Ligue 1 titles.
Sources are the club revealed that The People's Club has outlined Mokwena as one of three coaches on their shortlist for their next manager, alongside French duo Patrice Carteron and Hubert Velud.
Mokwena's name has been circulating widely within Algerian football circles, particularly among MC Alger supporters.
Despite his poor stint at Wydad, he performed well with Mamelodi Sundowns and has been widely regarded as one of the most promising young coaches on the African continent.

The MC Alger board hopes to build on the recent domestic success of last season having won the league and domestic cup double.
