The Red Devils' Club World Cup campaign ended in disappointment after a group stage exit with two draws and a loss from their three group games.
A 4-4 draw against FC Porto in their final game was enough to send the team home and Riveiro had words of praise for his players despite the elimination.
We played a very good match and tried to control the game. The match itself was good, so was the performance, and the weather conditions were ideal," he said after the game.
With the team now set for a two-week break, club officials are set to meet with Riveiro to discuss a host of key issues, notably around why the team struggled during the Club World Cup, according to Youm7.
