Interest in Mayele has grown significantly following an impressive season with the Sky Blues. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) international scored 18 goals in 38 games in all competitions as Pyramids won their first continental title.
While the 31-year-old was the subject of intense interest from the Betway Premiership, it appears as though a move to the Saudi Pro League is a foregone conclusion.
According to El-Balad, Egyptian football journalist Ahmed Shobeir said Mayele is likely to follow in the footsteps of Ibrahim Adel and leave the club for the Middle East.
Adel left the club to join Al Jazira FC in the UAE, and Shobeir revealed that Mayele was a "strong candidate" to leave.
"I asked Pyramids officials about the future of Congolese striker Fiston Mayele, and they told me he’s a strong candidate to leave," Shobeir said. "The player received a very lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia and is close to departing."
Shobeir revealed that the club was open to letting him go after he was tempted by the offer from the Saudi Pro League.
"Honestly, I was very surprised and asked them how they could agree to let him go when he’s one of the team’s top stars and scorers. They told me the player is determined to leave after receiving the offer from Saudi Arabia and won’t be with the team next season."

Shobeir concluded: "Pyramids are thinking about signing a strong striker. Just to be clear, don’t link Wissam Abu Ali with Pyramids—there’s no connection. But Wissam will eventually move to the American League."
