It was a season of 'so close yet so far' for Fadlu Davids' side, who narrowly missed out on silverware in all competitions.
The Reds of Msimbazi finished as runner-up in the Tanzanian Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup, while also losing in the semi-finals of the Tanzanian Cup.
According to IPP Media, reliable sources from within Simba revealed there are talks underway between Davids and the club's leadership to discuss a contract extension, which is reportedly going well as both sides have a desire to continue the relationship.
Despite not winning any silverware last season, the South African coach was praised for his positive impact on the team and the way he improved performances on the pitch.
He was reportedly promised by the club's honorary president, Mohammed Dewji, that a new contract would be tabled, while the Cape Town native also had his demands for the club.
This included addressing key areas before agreeing to a new deal, as well as strengthening his squad in areas that were a problem last season.
"After the derby against Yanga, I made it clear I would present my proposals to the leadership,” the former Martizburg United captain said. "If what they want aligns with what I need to build a strong team, then we will move forward together."

The new deal will also supposedly include Davids' backroom team, such as coaches and analysts. The former Orlando Pirates tactician is looking to build a new-look side that can compete domestically and on the continent.
