Before joining Paris Saint-Germain, Hugo Ekitike was regarded as one of French football’s most promising young talents following his exploits with Stade de Reims.
However, his time with Les Parisiens did not go according to plan, as a lack of regular game time led to him being loaned back to Reims before eventually making a move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
After joining the Bundesliga side midway through the 2023/24 campaign, the forward made a permanent switch to Deutsche Bank Park at the start of the 2024/25 season – and he has been a revelation since his arrival.
This past season, the towering and agile striker registered 22 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, sparking major interest in his services.
Some of world football’s biggest clubs – including Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Liverpool – are believed to be keen on recruiting him. The Eagles have reportedly placed a €100 million price tag on the 23-year-old, but while many major clubs are said to be circling, his national team does not appear to share the same level of interest.
Born and raised in France but of Cameroonian descent, the Reims native has represented the European nation at youth level, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the two-time world champions – leaving him eligible to represent the Indomitable Lions.
The Frankfurt hitman has hinted he could commit to the five-time African champions, but only if Didier Deschamps does not call him up soon.

“Playing for Les Bleus remains my first dream,” Ekitike told Canal+ Sport Afrique.
“But if France does not retain me, I will have no other choice but to defend the colours of Cameroon.”
