Amid fears Cameroon could be banned by FIFA, their new head coach has claimed he is more afraid of Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) president Samuel Eto'o than of world football's governing body.

The stand-off between FECAFOOT and the Cameroonian Ministry of Sports (MINSEP) continues two days away from their first 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match in this international period.
The latest chapter in the saga unfolded on Sunday at the Hilton hotel in Yaounde. It is believed that FECAFOOT and MINSEP personnel clashed over the handling of the players ahead of their match against Cape Verde this coming Saturday.
The government body is said to have already reserved rooms for the players, but FECAFOOT's presence there led to a dispute, ultimately requiring police intervention to diffuse the situation.

The incident reportedly led to Eto'o withholding training equipment, leaving the Indomitable Lions without official kits at the beginning of the week.
FIFA have strict rules regarding government interference with national football team matters, but as the five-time African champions prepare to face the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finalists in a clash between the current top two sides in Group D of CAF 2026 World Cup qualification, Brys has emphasised his fear of the FC Barcelona legend.
"I'm not afraid of FIFA but rather of Samuel Eto'o; he's unpredictable," the Belgian tactician said, as per Afrique Sports.
"Imagine if he cancels the matches, that's where his power over us lies.
"We don't have balls at the camp, we don't have equipment, we don't have gear.
