CAFCL 'Causes' Ahly To Make Big Transfer Call, Tau Incl.

The CAF Champions League has reportedly forced Al Ahly to make a major call on their transfer plans for their star players, including Percy Tau.

According to Youm7, the Club of the Century has already started to receive offers for some of their star players.

The Egyptian giants are alleged to have begun receiving calls about the likes of star striker Wessam Abou Ali, as well as midfielders Ahmed Kouka and Marwan Ateya.

However, the same report claims that they will not be entertaining offers for these players in the mid-season window, as they are concerned about losing players ahead of the start of the Champions League.

The Red Devils have won the last two editions of the tournament and have been drawn into a tough group for the 2024/25 edition.

In their round-robin stage, they will be facing South African top-flight log leaders Orlando Pirates, Algerian giants CR Belouizdad and Ivory Coast's Stade d'Abidjan.

Playing in this tournament, as well as the Egyptian league and the Egyptian Cup, has prompted Ahly to want to hold on to their stars. However, while the likes of Abou Ali are set to stay at the Cairo International Stadium when the transfer market reopens in January, one player who is likely to leave is Tau.

It is understood that head coach Marcel Koller has become disillusioned with the South African winger and is willing to let the reigning CAF Interclub Player of the Year go if the club receive a suitable offer for him.
