Last week Friday, Amine Gouiri opened the scoring for the Desert Foxes in their first match under new head coach Vladimir Petkovic against Bolivia.
The two-time African champions ended up winning the encounter 3-2 as they competed for the first time since the Africa Cup of Nations, where they were unable to grab a single victory.
This was Gouiri's first goal for the north African juggernauts, and while he would have been elated to get off the mark for his nation, the joy did not end there.
The Stade Rennais man has left the national team for personal reasons, with Fenne Football claiming that the cause of his departure from Petkovic's camp is that his wife was giving birth to their first child in France.
It means that 24-year-old will not be present for Algeria's upcoming FIFA Series encounter with South Africa at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Tuesday evening.
