At the start of this season, the Red Devils sent one of their standout players, Aliou Dieng, out on loan to the Saudi Pro League. Since arriving at the Cairo International Stadium, the Mali international had been a dominant presence for the North African giants, helping them clinch numerous titles, including four CAF Champions League crowns.
The 27-year-old has maintained his form in the Middle East, becoming a key figure for Al-Kholood as they battle to remain in the Saudi top flight. The president of the Pride of Ar Rass, Mohammed Al Khalifa, has revealed that while he would like to keep the defensive midfielder, he is willing to end Dieng’s loan spell early to help Al Ahly adequately prepare for their Club World Cup campaign—should the Egyptian side wish to recall him.
“Ahly and the loan ends on June 30. The player is performing at a high level, but we want him to stay, and if Al Ahly requests the player's presence in the Club World Cup, I will carry Dieng on a private plane to Al Ahly,” Khalifa said, as per Kora Plus.
“Al-Ahly has not contacted us. The season ends at the end of May, and we want Dieng to continue, but after the end of the season the club's situation will be evaluated. There is a desire to buy the player permanently."
The Saudi chief was also asked whether the club had requested any other players from Ahly, to which he responded:
"Did Al-Kholood request any other players from Al-Ahly? We did not request any other players from Al-Ahly."
