The Cairo Derby on Thursday night marked the first time Marcel Koller's men took to the pitch as 2022/23 EPL title winners.
The White Knights had ambitions of making their third-place finish official, while also inflicting Ahly with their first defeat in domestic competition this season, but the Club of the Century had other plans.
Tau and Egyptian winger Hussein El Shahat were once again the leading protagonists as the duo played a hand in three of the four goals that went past Mohamed Sobhy. El Shahat, who recently inked a three-year extension at the Cairo International Stadium, scored the first two goals of match before his South African counterpart played Ali Maaloul into space to make it 3-0 before half-time.
Mohamed Sherif rounded off the scoring in the second half as Ahly walked away with their 26th victory in 30 league matches. It was also the club's 45th victory over Zamalek as the Swiss tactician looks to complete a historic unbeaten league season in his debut campaign.

In order to successfully complete this, Tau and his teammates still have to avoid defeat against El Mokawloon, Harras El Hodoud, Pyramids FC and El Masry in their remaining league fixtures.
