Al Ahly Fines Players And Coaches After Shock Defeat

Following a shock defeat on Tuesday night, all of Al Ahly's players and coaches were slapped with a fine by president Mahmoud El Khatib.

Pitso Al Ahly Miss Out On Super Cup Title

In a statement released by the Egyptian giants, Pitso Mosimane, his coaching staff and his players have all be fine following their lacklustre performance against El Geish in the 2020/21 Egyptian Super Cup on Tuesday.

"Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly's president, decided to impose a 300k fine on Al Ahly players, director of football and the coaching staff after the disappointing performance in the Egyptian Super Cup on Tuesday, despite the great support that the team receives to achieve titles and meet the expectations of the fans," a club statement read on the club's website.

"Also, the administrative staff and the medical staff will be subjected to a fine that is relative to their salaries."

The 300k fine equates to R281 000 for Mosimane, who was disappointed to have missed out on the Egyptian Premier League title last season.

The Red Devils were seen as the clear favourites to win the Super Cup for a record 12th time on Tuesday, but were defeated 3-2 in a penalty shootout with El Geish winning lifting the trophy for the first time in their history.
