This past weekend, the Club of the Century parted ways with Riveiro after the Spaniard once again failed to secure a league victory. In his three months in charge of the Red Devils, the Vigo native managed just one win for the record CAF Champions League holders.
Although he only suffered two defeats in his seven games at the helm, the 2-0 loss to Pyramids over the weekend ultimately sealed his fate in Cairo.
It has since been reported that the North African giants are reviewing the CVs of several foreign coaches as they search for Riveiro’s permanent successor. However, in the meantime, the 45-time Egyptian champions have already decided who will take temporary charge.
According to the club’s official channel, via a programme hosted by club legend turned journalist Ahmed Shobeir, Emad El-Nahhas will reprise his role as interim boss.
