There has been speculation surrounding the future of 2022 Africa Cup of Nations winning coach Aliou Cisse in recent weeks. Earlier this year, news broke that the Senegalese tactician had not been paid since assuming the role of head coach of the Libyan national team. It was alleged that the 49-year-old had threated to take the Libyan Football Federation to FIFA as a result.
However, there seems to be other parties keen on taking advantage of the situation currently at hand. According to WinWin, Algerian outfit USM Algers were interested in taking him on board and succeed Mohamed Lacet in their bid to improve on their eighth placed finish from last season.
While the possibility to lure Cisse is seemingly present, it will not come to cheap for any potential suitor. The same report claims that the renowned coach is seeking a monthly salary of $80 000 (R1.4 million) and it is believed that this amount is too much for the north African side.
It is understood that the club will now try lure former coach Juan Carlos Garrido to the club, but had Cisse coached in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1, he would have coached in a league littered with the top coaches.
